Artist Comments

Painted on location at the end of Taylor Road in Metchoin, BC.  Garry Oak Trees (also known as Oregon White Oak) is the only species of oak that is native to B.C. It’s range is limited to a very narrow stripe of sub-Mediterranean rain-shadow climate that extends down the eastern margin of Vancouver Island and throughout the southern Gulf Islands in BC, as, far south as the San Joaquin valley in California.  I am grateful to be surrounded by them and appreciate that they are protected.
